We are pleased to invite you all, friends of orienteering, to the
beautiful British Columbia and Vancouver as participants in the World
Police and Fire Games 2009 Orienteering Event.

We will do everything possible to provide you with a challenging
competition that fully meets your expectations.
We hope that during your stay you will discover the beauty of Vancouver and Whistler
(the hosts for the 2010 Olympics), become a part of the 2009 WPFG and

Terrain Description |
UPDATE - Due to the extreme
hot weather many of the ponds and lakes are now dry or
smaller than they appear on the map. |
The terrain is predominantly forested and partially rocky with small
openings and steep cliffs in some areas. It is rich on small and middle
sized landforms, very detailed with lots of small lakes, ponds, marshes and
rocks. The fallen trees in the forest might affect the runability.
Click here to see some pictures of the area
Notes:
- The competition will take place late morning (from 9:30). Competitors are
therefore
advised to take extra care to avoid dehydration. We will have two
water stations on the course.
- Due to the many water features it is advisable to protect
yourself from mosquitoes.
- Black bears can be found in the area. Make your presence known.
Some people prefer to wear bells.
- Long pants and protective gaiters are suggested.
